Date of birth12 February 1988
A graduate of Scottish Rugby’s National Academy, Ruaridh made his debut for Glasgow Warriors against GRAN Parma in October 2006.
He left the club in 2014 and after spending 3 years in the English Premiership playing for Wasps and Harlequins, he re-signed for Glasgow in the summer of 2017.
A confident and skilful player, Ruaridh has over 100 Glasgow appearances to his name, playing at both fly-half and fullback. He made a big impact when he re-joined the Glasgow squad winning the ‘Player's Player of the Season award’ at the end of the 2017/18 campaign.
Ruaridh made his Scotland Team debut in 2010 against New Zealand in the EMC Autumn Tests. He scored his first points for his country in dramatic fashion during the final test of the series at Pittodrie Stadium in his home city of Aberdeen, slotting a penalty from the 22-metre line with the last kick of the match to seal victory over Samoa. He has since gone on to win 33 caps for Scotland.
Eight years after his fifteen-aside debut, Ruaridh was selected part of the Scotland 7s squad for the 2018 Commonwealth Games on Australia's Gold Coast, helping his team to reach sixth place.
Keen to develop his coaching skills and pass on his wealth of knowledge and experience gained during his thirteen years as a professional player, Ruaridh joined Glasgow Accies’ coaching team as Backs Coach for the 2019/20 season.
Off the pitch, Ruaridh set up the Garden Shed Drinks Company with fellow Glasgow Warriors alumni Ryan Grant. Not content with brewing deliciously flavoured gin, the company seeks to be both ethically and environmentally friendly, donating a portion of their profits to environmental charities and working to raise awareness on climate change. In their first year of trading, the company was nominated for an award at the 2018 Scottish Gin Awards.
