Ally is an athletic, dynamic and skilful flanker and can play across the back-row. He signed his first professional contract with Edinburgh Rugby in 2017, making his debut in the Guinness Pro14 win over Scarlets in November 2018.
A former member of BT Sport Scottish Rugby Academy, Ally was one of a number of players who moved down south to London Scottish at the start of the 2016/17 season as part of Scottish Rugby’s partnership with the Richmond club. He made 15 appearances during his time in the English Championship.
Ally was selected as part of the core Scotland 7's squad ahead of the 2018/19 season. He played in the HSBC World Sevens Series in 2017, performing well in Las Vegas before earning praise for a series of excellent displays in Vancouver. This led to his selection as part of the Scotland 7’s squad for the 2018 Commonwealth Games on Australia’s Gold Coast.
Ally has a big season ahead. He has already featured heavily in Edinburgh's opening Pro14 fixtures and he is sure to play a huge part in the 2019/20 7s World Series for Scotland. The excitement of the Tokyo Olympics is a definite goal for Ally as he looks to help drive the 7s team to success.
Outside of Rugby, Ally is studying part-time for a degree in Business and Economics at Heriot-Watt University.
