James Guy closes inspiring World Cup Tour with another medal

31 October 2016

James Guy rounded off the FINA World Cup Swimming Tour with a Silver medal in the 200m Freestyle. James has competed and won medals at each leg of the World Cup Tour this year, with stops in Paris, Berlin, Moscow, Doha, Dubai, Beijing, Tokyo, Singapore and Hong Kong.

It’s been an impressive journey for James, from being crowned World Champion last summer, to his first visit to an Olympic podium in Rio just 12 months later. James has shown drive and resilience to continue his arduous training regime post-Olympic Games and his hard work has been rewarded through valuable learning experience in travelling and competition on the World Cup Tour. James is now looking forward to a well-deserved break from the pool to recharge before preparations begin for his World title defence in July 2017.

Elsewhere for #teamredsky, Katie Archibald was crowned Omnium Champion at the London Six Day Cycling Event this past weekend. In front of a packed crowd at the Lee Valley Velopark, Katie was the rider to beat after her success at the European Championships in Paris last week.

Katie, delighted with her current form stated, “I’ve got a good track record in Six Day format, and I’ve had a fantastic time. I feel like I’ve had some really iconic moments racing against the fierce rivalry there’s been here, with World Champion Amalie Dideriksen of the Netherlands and national teammate Neah Evans.”

Katie, like James, has shown great drive and resilience to continue her training program post-Olympic Games and bypass a season ending holiday. It speaks volumes for Katie to continue her impressive form after experiencing huge levels of success in Rio and at the recent European Championships. Inspiring choices from our #teamredsky athletes.
