S&C Coach

Mark Robertson made his years of experience count – he is definitely the opposite of a journeyman pro!

Mark has always had the approach of being curious, learning and improving throughout his playing career and has continued this high performance attitude into his coaching career as a Strength & Conditioning specialist.

Testament to Mark’s upward learning curve throughout his career is the fact that his final game of Rugby 7s, as a player, was Scotland’s World 7s Series Victory at the London 7s where Mark picked up Man of the Series. Mark was a key member of the Scotland 7s squad as they went from a team who had never even appeared in a final to being the first Scotland rugby team of any level to beat New Zealand  and make 4 podium finishes in the World 7s Series which included back to back title wins in London in 2016 & 2017.

Mark also showed his resilience and learning ability when he bounced back from non-selection for Scotland at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.  Mark went on to make a number of tiny improvements which culminated in selection for Team GB 7s at the Rio Olympics in 2016 where he helped in another victory over New Zealand on the way to collecting an Olympic Silver Medal!

Now in his coaching career, Mark is assistant S&C coach for French giants ASM Clermont, a job he secured on the back of two seasons with the full Scotland Men’s squad. Mark’s personable, player centred style along with his attention to detail and passion for sustainable high performance make him popular with both players and management.

As a speaker Mark is thoughtful, humble and incredibly passionate. Mark holds a room brilliantly and is equally gifted during the Q&A where he shares his depth of knowledge around the detail required to achieve and maintain top performance.
