Ritchie extends with Edinburgh!

18 December 2017

We are delighted to announce that Edinburgh have re-signed 21-year-old back-row Jamie Ritchie, with the former Scotland U20 captain extending his stay with the club until 2021.

A product of Perth’s Strathallan School and the Howe of Fife club, Ritchie’s current deal was due to expire at the end of next season, but he has agreed to extend that with the club he started his professional career with as a 17-year-old. He has so far made 39 appearances for the capital club.

As one of Edinburgh’s most consistent performers this season, Ritchie received his first call-up to the senior National squad ahead of last month’s Autumn Tests.

On re-signing with club, Ritchie said: “I’m delighted to be staying here in Edinburgh – a city which my family and I call home.

“I’ve really enjoyed the changes made under Richard Cockerill and I’m excited to see where the club can go. We’re starting to build something incredibly strong here and I want to be a part of that process.”

Edinburgh Head Coach Richard Cockerill added: “Jamie has been in great form this season and we’re thrilled that he sees his future with Edinburgh.

“We’re developing a strong culture within the club and Jamie’s contribution is central to those plans.”

Red Sky CEO Rowen Shepherd, commented: "We are thrilled that Jamie has chosen to re-sign with Edinburgh where he has developed into a fantastic player, now knocking on the door for a spot in the National Squad, sure to be one of his goals in 2018.  We have no doubt he will continue to drive to improve his game and be one of the leading players in a revitalised Edinburgh squad."
