Grace Reid crowned National Champion in Edinburgh
Grace Reid looks to be continuing the form that saw her Dive in the Rio Olympic Final and win European Championship Gold in 2016 after her impressive return to competition this past weekend.
The Scottish National Diving Championships took place at the Royal Commonwealth Pool in Edinburgh, where Grace won Gold in the 1m springboard and 3m springboard, setting a personal best in the 1m.
After her impressive season in 2015/16, Grace will be delighted to begin the new season with such a positive result. Her sponsors, Knight Frank were also present to show their continued support.
The next major competition for Grace is the World Series events in March 2017. This is the first time Grace has qualified for this event and is a testament to her drive and breakthrough performances this past year.
Mark Robertson, in his first competition since a historic Silver at the Rio Olympic Games, alongside Fraser Lyle, kicked off the 2016/17 HSBC Sevens Series in the searing heat of Dubai. Scotland finished the leg with a record of 3 wins and 3 defeats, narrowly missing out to a last minute try against Australia.
Lyle & Roberston have a key role in the Scotland Sevens setup this year. Both have a wealth of elite level experience and will be providing mentoring and stability for the next generation of Sevens stars within the Scotland fold. It was a welcome return to Sevens action for Fraser Lyle who played brilliantly in scoring 2 tries in a narrow defeat to England.
Next up for Robertson and Lyle is Cape Town for the second leg of HSBC Sevens Series next weekend!
