Katie Archibald crowned European Champion

24 October 2016

Katie Archibald was the star of the show this past weekend at the European Track Cycling Championships in Paris, France. A third successive European title in the Individual Pursuit in a lifetime best time was the perfect start to a memorable few days of competition.

A Silver medal in the Elimination Race was followed by another Gold, her second successive at European Championships, in the Omnium event, capping off a wonderful performance. Results this week for Katie have guaranteed her qualification to next summer’s World Championships, which will be a huge advantage over her competitors under the pressures of selection.

Katie’s decision to compete at the European Championships and continue to train after the Olympic Games just a few short months ago, shows her drive and resilience, reaping the rewards of her work.

Elsewhere, there were impressive results from Edinburgh, beating Harlequins in an 11 try thriller at Murrayfield a dominant win from Gloucester over Treviso, led by Captain Greig Laidlaw, who announced the birth of his second son, Rocco Laidlaw, just last week. Congratulations Greig and Rachel!
